One of the things that I love after the wedding is being able to watch a family grow. It’s pretty awesome to be there for some of the major events in peoples lives after they get married. I love to get a call a few years (or sometimes 10 months) after the wedding that a couple of mine is expecting. It’s always a privilege to be able to photograph newborns and kids as they grow up. Kids grow so fast and as I watch my own grow up and see their personality change every month it gives me new perspectives on capturing family portraits that really capture this time in a families life. I have photographed some fun portrait sessions recently so will be sharing some images and a few videos over the next few days.

Normally on wednesdays we will do a wedding related post highlighting a wedding vendor or a location. But today I wanted to showcase a recent family portrait session that we did with twin 2 year olds that were just way too cute. I photographed these little ones when they were just a few months old and can’t believe how grown they are already at 2. It really is pretty amazing to be able to photography and document a families life and growth together definitely one of the things I love most about photography. What is different about our lifestyle family portrait sessions and why are they important? This is a great question that I ask myself all of the time. To be honest I didn’t do a lot of portraits in the past because I never really got it, I never really got how important they were to a family until last year. After having our first child and watching her grow up in front of my eyes already to a 14 month old who is walking and talking I realized how important capturing these little moments with her were. I love looking back at some of the photos of her as a little baby and going through all of the stages of her life so far. Each stage is so different and her personality changes all the time. The images I cherish the most are the natural and fun shots, a photo of me giving her a hug and a kiss brings back so many more memories compared to just a standard studio style photo for me.

After realizing how important it was to capture and create these moments I really started to let more people know of our family portrait sessions. I created a new website just for our lifestyle work: http://www.stagiportraitlife.com and am passionate about documenting life for families. I believe every family should have awesome memories of this time in their life and want to capture your families moments. We have been able to photograph a lot of really fun lifestyle family portrait sessions lately.  From newborns to families with teens running around we have been able to capture some awesome moments this summer and I am really looking forward to the busy fall portrait season.  I’ll share a few of our recent sessions on the blog next week and wanted to start out with a fun session for Lawrence and Marissa.  We photographed their wedding a few years back and they have such a energetic fun boy now.  They said he was at the stage where he loves to run around and has too much energy so we headed over to Vasona park in Los Gatos for the session.  Here are a few of my fav’s:

We have been able to capture some great memories for families this summer and are starting to do more and more lifestyle family photos than ever before. After having our first child last year it really made me realize how important good photography can be for a family. Families change so much year after year and capturing those memories can be priceless. I have hundreds of photos of our baby already (and it hasn’t even been a full year yet) and looking back at the photos over the months she has changed so much, you don’t really realize it when your living your life. We have been so busy shooting the past week that we haven’t had much time to blog, but we are putting the final touches on lots of portrait sessions and weddings and will be updating the blog over the next few days with lots of new stuff! We also got to check out our neighborhood 4th of July parade again this year and captured a few images of some of the cool floats. I’ll post a slideshow with some of the highlights tomorrow.
