I love photographing engagement sessions, its always a really fun and natural shoot where we have time to run around and capture images without the hustle and bustle that you get on the wedding day. This engagement shoot for John and Janice was so much fun down in downtown Los Gatos. We found some really cool backdrops and they are just a fun couple to be around. The other day I was spending a few minutes relaxing on the couch and decided to just let a slideshow play on the tv from some recent photos. It can pull up all images from my personal folder from the last 12 months and I was curious what photos were even on there. Sometimes I feel like I don’t take enough photos of my kids, I am always so busy with other photo sessions it feels like I don’t take many of them. After looking through these thousands of images I realized I do thankfully take lots of photos of them and was just amazed at how fast they really grow up. When I view some of my personal photos it always makes me realize how important photography really is. Even if you aren’t an art lover like me, great photography which really captures the essence of someone at that point in their life can be so priceless to reflect back on. As I was watching our 2 little ones grow up again right in front of me on the screen it brings back so many wonderful memories and really motivated me to shoot even more of them over the next year. My little baby girl is still a baby in daddys eyes but also starting to grow up.

I am so thankful to have 2 healthy babies, their smiles just light me up on a daily basis and it is truly a gift to have them.

As wedding season is now starting to kick in and the weather is getting nice its the perfect time to setup Engagement sessions or just a fun portrait session. One of the things that I love after the wedding is being able to watch a family grow. It’s pretty awesome to be there for some of the major events in peoples lives after they get married. I love to get a call a few years (or sometimes 10 months) after the wedding that a couple of mine is expecting. It’s always a privilege to be able to photograph newborns and kids as they grow up. Kids grow so fast and as I watch my own grow up and see their personality change every month it gives me new perspectives on capturing family portraits that really capture this time in a families life. I have photographed some fun portrait sessions recently so will be sharing some images and a few videos over the next few days.

Bay Area wedding and portrait photography

One thing I have loved to photograph over the past 2 years is my children. Capturing their day to day activities and growth is really an amazing thing to watch and I know going to be so priceless one day. I already look back at images taken just 6 months ago and can’t believe how quick they have grown up. Children change so much on a weekly and monthly basis and it is so much fun to be able to document part of their life with the camera and photograph all of these moments in their life. One of the things that first drew me into photography when I was a child was it’s ability to capture moments in time that 1/2 second later are gone, moments are so fleeting and capturing a true slice of life is really an amazing thing to be able to do. Today’s image is a quick shot of our daughter at the start of the year, so crazy to see how much she has changed this year.

I posted a screenshot of our old blog and a little about the evolution of my blog last week and today wanted to give you a sneak peek at whats to come soon! I am excited to have a brand new look and feel that will more match the fun, creative and natural style that I am known for.

Normally on wednesdays we will do a wedding related post highlighting a wedding vendor or a location. But today I wanted to showcase a recent family portrait session that we did with twin 2 year olds that were just way too cute. I photographed these little ones when they were just a few months old and can’t believe how grown they are already at 2. It really is pretty amazing to be able to photography and document a families life and growth together definitely one of the things I love most about photography. Bay Area Family Portraits

One of the coolest things about being a photographer is the connections that you make. I get to witness first hand some of the most important parts of peoples lives, its pretty amazing to watch a family that’s just starting out and watch it grow. For me I usually first do a photoshoot for a couple when they are engaged. The engagement session is always a fun photo session that lets me spend some quality time with the couple and start to get to know them. On the wedding day I am usually there from the getting ready moments up until the end of the night. Spending time in the room with the girls getting ready, the guys beforehand and all of the family really brings you in to this personal, private space for families and lets you connect with them. After the wedding most of the times I feel like part of their family (maybe that crazy uncle with the camera always). But then after the wedding I still get to experience some great moments and share in them with my clients. They get pregnant, have babies, grow their family, have an anniversary, the list goes on and on and while all of these huge milestones are happening I am right there creating lifestyle photos of them to cherish and remember the day forever. No words can describe how cool that really is.

So today here are a few images of Sherri and Steve who are about to have their first baby! Congrats guys, you will be awesome parents.
